DJ RHYTHM

 

DJ Rhythm grew up in a musical family all of whom could either sing or play an instrument. She spent many years as a performer and songwriter, but never took the step to make it a full career.

 

After many years of collecting, listening and compiling CDs for friends; she was given the opportunity to DJ at a small bar; by a close friend. Having never touched a set of CD decks. Thank you A!

 

Finding a new way to express and share her love for music she learnt how to beatmatch with a PC (Oh Yes!) even though she continued to play out and many venues/events including Pride. She later went on to buy her first pro CD decks which opened up a whole new way of playing and mixing which helped her develop and define her unique and smooth style.

 

She specialises in 70s 80s 90s R&B/Soul and Neo Soul, but also plays Old School Reggae, Old School Garage, Soulful/Funky House, Modern R&B, Funk, Gospel and Soca.

I have been a Dj for more years than I can remember. I play reggae, old skool, rare grooves, soca, revival, lovers rock and r'n'b. I have played in many clubs over the years and also private parties.

To name but a few: Liberte, Blessence, Blu bar, ShineEye promotions, Outburst pride events, Birmingham pride and Burngreave Community Radio in Sheffield. Glass bar, Southopia and as mentioned numerous private functions mainly women only events, all over the Uk - Birmingham, Sheffield and Manchester.

I like to see a crowd dancing and having a good time. It's all about entertaining people. Occasionally I MC - love to chat on the mike and nice up the dance!

I have been playing music for more than the amount of years I can remember. You may remember the days of the Vox in Brixton! and over the years I have played in various clubs that have now unfortunately been and gone.

In addition, to the club scene, I play/played at a lot of house parties they were much more popular and regular a few years ago

I play is Soul, R&B, Rare Groove, Reggae, Ragga and Revival.

I been making mix tapes since I am five years old, I am a guitarist since I was eight years old , I can read music and can play various instruments , I have grown up listening to all kind of music, Delta Blues , Jazz , Funky , Soul , R&B , Hip Hop , Reggae , ...

With time I found I had a better predisposition in creating atmosphere and believe I can communicate with the crowd through the tunes that I mix and play. I been playing music in London underground clubs since 2002; I am also involved in music production, in 2006 I started a collaboration with Nu Tunes and I independently collaborating with other artists .
